How
To Track A Hurricane
Watch ABC26 for up to date hurricane information. Tracking a hurricane
is easier than you think. Storm center positions are given by latitude
and longitude readings. For example, if a storm is located near 30.0 North
(this is the latitude) and 90.0 West (this is the longitude). The storm
would be positioned right over New Orleans. Longitude are the lines reading
East or West. Latitude are the North or South numbers. So when coordinates
are given, draw a circle at the location the lines meet at the given numbers.
This is where our example coordinates (30.0 N & 90.0 W) would place the
storm.
