Lafourche Deputies Investigate A Triple Murder

LAFOURCHE PARISH —
Lafourche deputies are investigating their first triple murder in at least 16-years. A family found three bodies in a car in Raceland early this morning. James Gaither says he and his family were sleeping early this morning when they were woken up by a round of gunfire.
"When we came out of the house, we saw the dead bodies in the car by our front yard. We heard the gunshots, about seven of them. It sounded like a canon," says Gaither.
The shooting happened at round two this morning in the 600 block of St. Louis Street in Raceland. That's where authorities found the bodies of three men in a dark mustang. All had been shot multiple times. The victims are: 22-year-old Terry Hester, 30-year-old Chauncy Adams, and 27-year-old Brad Bourda. Investigators say all three had extensive criminal records that included drug trafficking, burglary, and attempted murder.
"The nature of the drug trade is such that if the drugs don't kill you, the lifestyle does. There is a variety of reasons that motivate people to resort to guns and violence. Often times, it's a matter of turf wars," says Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre.
Investigators say a fourth person, a 25-year-old man, was also shot in the leg just a block away from the crime scene. The victim is in stable condition and authorities believe the two shootings are connected. What they don't know at this point is if any witnesses will come forward to help with the investigation:
"When someone is brazen enough to fire an assault weapon into a car and kill three men, you can imagine their need to retaliate is not going to be hindered," says Webre.
If you can help with this case, investigators want you to call crimestoppers at 822-1111.
Remember, all callers remain anonymous.
