Regional Group Finds Fault With Dillard
AP,

NEW ORLEANS —
The organization that accredits Dillard University has scolded the New Orleans school for the way it has
managed its money.
The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools has put Dillard on probation, which is the most serious action it can take short of withdrawing accreditation.
By putting Dillard on probation, university President Marvalene Hughes says the commission is simply indicating that the controls are not in place to ensure sustainability.
In June 2007, Dillard was issued a warning that severe action could take place because SACS said the university hadn't filed audits and other documents to show fiscal health.
The warning was lifted in December after Dillard submitted the required paperwork.
Hughes says Dillard's financial assets are strong and stead. Hughes says she plans to "restructure the Division of Business and Finance . . . to assure tighter internal controls."
